March 15, 2020

Dear Rowe Families,

Your patience has been greatly appreciated as we navigate the uncertain territory of these last few days. We are committed to providing the best learning opportunities that we can for your children. Please know that this is all new for us as educators. Our teachers have been working on this over the last week or so in anticipation of a possible school closure.

We know that our initial foray into Distance Learning Days will present a host of challenges that we are unable to anticipate. We will be working to create positive and productive distance learning opportunities for all of our students. This will take some time. We appreciate your patience and flexibility as we address the variety of challenges, questions, and issues that will inevitably arise as we implement distance learning instruction.

Please note the following information about the next few days:

-All staff will be at Rowe School tomorrow, March 16th to continue planning for remote learning, which will begin on Tuesday, March 17th. We will provide balanced distance learning opportunities for all of our students, being mindful of the amount of time students will have to spend on screens.

-Students will not have any classes at Rowe beginning tomorrow, March 16th and should not be at school for any reason, including the outside play area for the time being.

-If there is something absolutely essential your child needs from school for the next two weeks, please contact the office and someone will get back to you about when you can pick up the item or items.

-Please let the main office know if you do not have internet access or a device in your home. Seesaw works on just about every device type including Chromebooks, computers, iOS, Android and Kindle devices.

-After tomorrow, teachers will be in touch with directions for how to access your SeeSaw account for distance learning.

-Parent-Teacher conferences will be postponed until a later date. We will be in contact with further details as the current situation evolves.

We appreciate your support and patience as we work together through our current situation. This will likely result in a slightly slower pace for most and possibly more family time. There are definitely some positive aspects that we can all take away from this experience. Please reach out if you have further questions. There will be more updates to follow in the next few days.

Sincerely,

Susan Lobel, Principal
