Dear Parents and Guardians,

The end of April vacation, marked by a welcome return of sunshine and warmer temperatures, means the final stretch of the school year is upon us.  For our seniors, graduation is seven weeks away as we will honor the Class of 2018 on Sunday, June 10th. A reminder that as part of Yarmouth’s graduation requirements, all seniors must complete 60 hours of community service and two CEP experiences.  Parents are encouraged to view this link for information about important dates and events.  For parents of students in grades 9-11, we’ve also included the following schedule for final exams, which will begin on Wednesday, June 13th.   The next few weeks are busy, and we would like to share the following information with you.

4th quarter progress reports - Week of April 30th.  These reports include information on Cornerstone assessments which are part of Yarmouth’s graduation requirements.  As we approach the end of the school year, please be reminded that students must earn at least an 80 on their cornerstone assessments in order to successfully earn credit for a course.

Junior Privileges - This winter, our student senate worked with the YHS faculty and school committee to provide juniors with off-campus privileges during their study halls and lunches.  In order to qualify, juniors must meet the following expectations:

  • receive parent permission.

  • have an 85 or above in all classes.

  • be up to date with community service hours (37.5 hours).

  • have completed 1 CEP.

  • be up to date on all cornerstones from semester one.

  • No major behavioral incidents & detentions served in a timely manner

  • turn in a signed parent permission slip and a photocopy of the current car registration for the vehicle(s) that the student intends to drive (if the student drives).

More information on Junior Privileges will be sent out to parents of juniors in the coming week.

Global Action Coalition Film - Tomorrow.  Friday April 27 at 7 pm.  On behalf of Yarmouth High School’s Global Action Coalition, we would like to reach out and inform you of a film screening. The film we are showing is “Tomorrow,” and it “sets out to showcase alternative and creative ways of viewing agriculture, economics, energy and education. It offers constructive solutions to act on a local level to make a difference on a global level.” The screening will be occurring on Friday April, 27, at 7 o’clock in the Yarmouth High School Performing Arts Center (free of charge, donations accepted). We would love for members of our community to attend so please consider joining us! Thank you.

Prom - Saturday May 5th.   This year’s prom will be held at the the Frontier restaurant at Fort Andross in Brunswick. Ticket sales start tomorrow but will be for seniors only through Tuesday.  After Tuesday, ticket sales will open for juniors as well. Tickets are $40 each. A reminder that per our district policy, students will be breathalyzed on their way into prom.

Class of 2017 Senior Gift - We are pleased to announce the gifts that the Class of 2017 gave to Yarmouth High School, the town of Yarmouth, and our global community. Donations were made to causes near and dear to the hearts of the Class of 2017 and include:
