Traveling Out of State Information

As we approach the April vacation week, Maine continues to adjust its health and safety protocols for those who may be traveling. The current guidance from the Governor is to avoid non-essential travel. However, if families (adults and children 12 months and older) do travel during vacation, the following  information is applicable for anyone participating in athletics (athletes, coaches, game personnel)

Returning to athletics requires:

  • testing (can be the rapid (antigen) test, or the PCR (molecular) test.  Test results should be forwarded to Stacey Hang (School Nurse - stacey_hang@yarmouthschools.org), and Sarah Holmes (Athletic Trainer - sarah_holmes@yarmouthschools.org).  The student should also keep a copy with them to show the coach if necessary.

  • if you forego testing, then you must quarantine for 10 days and if you have no symptoms after the 10 day quarantine, you may return to athletics

  • indicating on your daily health screen that you have traveled for 14 days

Maine travel questions can be answered on the  Keep ME Healthy FAQs

Returning to school after travel is not dependent on the length of time spent within the restricted states or other countries; a day visit still requires any person to quarantine and/or test as described above. All members of the household who travel must test or quarantine if over 12 months old. Testing site information for Maine can be found, here.
